Throughout
2005, Art Matters constructed slate circles in the grounds
of local schools, hospitals and business's, including Pfizer,
Kuoni and UnumProvident. This work marked World Environment
Day in June; its journey continues, allowing continuity of
its good intentions and its global message.
These
art circles have become environmental, organic community links,
bringing together health, education, art and business.
When
the slate is removed from the grass, bands of yellow and green
remain as a ghost image. Over time the yellow 'heals', returning
to lush green, reflecting the planets ability to self-heal.
The
circles also represent wholeness, reminders of the interdependence
of pysical and mental wellbeing in maintaining good health.
The project is
documented, with many hundreds of photographs. Some of these
were exhibited at the Mental Health Today Event at the Design
Centre in Islington in October.
Art Matters thanks everyone involved in
this project for their enthusiasm and commitment.
